Introduction by Sally Hoban (extract)
“This collection of photographs by Edward Moss is a celebration of the industrial spaces that are all around us but that we simply don’t see. It is easy to forget that the seemingly garish presence of industry shares the spaces we live in. Even when we interact with these estates, our relationship with them is fleeting and formal. Industry passes us by rather than us finding ourselves consciously traversing through the spaces it occupies. We move like insurgents; in and out; looking straight ahead and not really noticing what we see. Industrial spaces like these are everywhere and yet they are nowhere.”
Shot around the Midlands in the late part of 2010, this work represents a view of the ordinary, which is often ignored or missed.
Selected images will be soon available for purchase, from my shop in March 2011.
