A slight return to normality compared to last year, this year has provided me with some very interesting assignments. I’ve spent part of it lying on the floor in a studio photographing globes, photographing Royalty and VIP’s, shooting refuse trucks in Scotland and shooting school, University and College prospectuses. Good to see conferences have returned and I’m getting bookings from the NHS and healthcare providers again after a long break due to the pandemic. I’ve also continued to shoot thousands of staff and corporate portraits, luckily, the lockdown haircuts are now a distant memory.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Final job of 2021, I spent this morning photographing housing association staff training in Sheffield. Staff were trained in a nearby local wood about site safety and activities they can undertake with their residents.

Last week I started working with Hillend Engineering, manufacturer and repairer of refuse lorries in Scotland. Brief was to provide images that could be used on their website, for social media and general marketing material.
I’ve worked in many factories and engineering works over the years, this one recently had been upgraded to LED lighting which provides very even lighting. Some of the factories earlier in my career were lit by sodium discharge lights which meant everything came out orange, gels never worked properly. It was quite a relief if I could shoot in black and white.
Client was delighted with the pictures.
“Great images again Ed, thank you. The designer will be ecstatic when she sees them – it makes their job so much more enjoyable!”
Photographed the Secretary of State for Education, Nadhim Zahawi yesterday. He was visiting Birmingham to look at the building of the new Institute of Technology at Aston University.

Review of 2021
